Nik Furious: Proton Cannon: Gonna Be

Oh, man, this is such a weird beat. There's something I find really charming about it, but I understand how odd and inaccessible it could be to other people.

This is also the beginning of a recurring theme for this mixtape -- Proton Cannon's big rock music influence. Whereas Superior Tech has much more of an eerie groove to it, this collection of songs has more of a heavy head nod thing going on.

High hats! Piano! This is more of a remix than a beat, really. It's like some sort of megamix remix or something, but it just never goes to the next track in the megamix.

Whatever, though, cause I love this beat. That's why I made started making 'em in the first place! Taking the part of a song I like, giving it stronger drums, and looping the good stuff. That's boogie magic.

Sticks. That's what drew me to attempt this blend of digital drums and raw percussion. At the time I made this, the end game for every one of my instrumentals was to have them live on as hip hop beats. So I was curious to see if the cacophony of the sticks and the steady bass and snare of a drum machine would mix well.

I think it does. And it's a hot beat. But because it was made with vocals in mind, I don't think I varied the structure enough to make it a real gem. But listen and let me know what you think -- you might love it just the way it is.
